I’m Becky, a self-taught cake artist, wife, and mom to 3 kiddos in Kentucky. I started decorating cakes so I could make them for my kids. I had no idea that a hobby would turn into a passion and a thriving business.
I graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a BA in interior design, minoring in art studio. I’ve always been a creative person. It’s who I am. When I stumbled upon cake decorating, I thought it would just be something fun. I never expected it to change my life. But it did!
I was a stay-at-home mom. I felt like I didn’t have an identity. I was just Chris’ wife and the boys’ mom. I didn’t know who I was, and I was miserable. One day, my sister called me to ask how “Betty Crocker” I was feeling. After a long engagement, she and her fiance had decided to go ahead and get married…in two weeks! She offered to buy all of the pans and tools and let me keep them if I would make the cake. Of course, I said YES!
Sharing a photo of that cake on Facebook began a roller coaster ride. Within a month, I started my cake business. There were so many ups and downs, and I had to teach myself everything – from cake decorating techniques, to baking, to running a business. It was a lot of trial and error, but over the course of 10 years I built a successful business that I ran from my home. It wasn’t easy. But it was worth it!
Most importantly, I went from a woman who didn’t know who she was, to a confident, successful entrepreneur. I finally felt comfortable knowing that I was doing something to contribute to my family. I finally had an identity. And I liked who I was becoming.
Now, I want to take all of the things that I learned and share them with others. I want to help empower you to take the steps to grow your own business. And I’m going to show you how to do it from your home. You don’t have to sacrifice your family to be successful.
Let me help you Cake It Til You Make It!
